Jacqueline & Joe's Timeless Camden County Boathouse Wedding by the Waterfront in Pennsauken, NJ

I love when a couple arrives at my doorstep with a plan.
I wouldn't necessarily call Jacqueline and Joe's wedding a micro wedding, but it was a perfect example of how a thoughtfully planned wedding day doesn't always require a full eight-hour timeline. With just 6.5 hours of photography coverage, they were able to prioritize exactly what mattered to them the most: their family, friends, and the celebration itself.
By intentionally scaling back the getting-ready portion of the day, we maximized the photography coverage for the moments that meant the most to them. It's a great reminder that smaller wedding timelines can still deliver a complete gallery full of meaningful moments, beautiful portraits, and unforgettable memories.
Joe is a die-hard NHL Panthers fan. Jacqueline is a dancer with a love for musical theatre. In fact, she later told me that learning about my own musical theatre background was one of the reasons she felt I'd be a great fit as their wedding photographer.
And I have to say it: Joe Birmingham may be the coolest name in the English-speaking world. It sounds less like a groom's name and more like the lead detective in a my forthcoming mystery novel…👀

A Traditional Ceremony at Christ the King Church in Haddonfield
Choosing to forgo a first look, Jacqueline and Joe wanted to see one another for the first time during the ceremony.
I began the day at Christ the King Church in Haddonfield, New Jersey, capturing some portraits of Joe and his family & groomsmen while we awaited Jacqueline's arrival. The church ceremony held special significance for the couple, as a close friend's brother served as the officiating priest.

As guests filled the pews, the excitement in the room steadily grew. Surrounded by family and lifelong friends, Jacqueline and Joe exchanged vows in a ceremony that felt deeply personal and heartfelt.
Following the ceremony, we accomplished family portraits outside before creating bride and groom portraits on the church grounds. Some unexpected construction required a bit of creative problem-solving, but Christ the King remains a hidden gem for wedding photography near Collingswood and Haddonfield. The grounds offered plenty of beautiful backdrops for portraits before we headed over to the reception.

Reception at Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken, NJ
From there, we made the short drive to the Camden County Boathouse in Pennsauken, New Jersey.
Located along Cooper River Lake, the Camden County Boathouse is one of South Jersey's most underrated waterfront wedding venues. Conveniently situated just minutes from Collingswood, Haddonfield, Cherry Hill, and Philadelphia, it's an excellent choice for couples looking for a scenic reception venue close to Center City Philadelphia.

Cocktail hour was a veritable who’s who of New Jersey's best-dressed wedding guests. It was a reminder that weddings—even when they're not strictly black tie—are special occasions. Showing up with a little thought put into your attire is a wonderful way to celebrate and honor the couple.

The reception space itself is beautifully designed for weddings. South and West facing windows bathe the space in stunning natural light all through the evening, and when the sky decides, the lights dim and the evening is enchanted by elegant chandeliers and ornate trimmings. You'd never know there was a fully operational crew house right underneath!

One of the venue's standout features is the outdoor terrace overlooking Cooper River Lake. Whether guests need a breath of fresh air or simply want to enjoy the view, the terrace provides a peaceful waterfront escape just outside the reception.

Andreotti's Catering Delivers a Seamless Reception Experience
One of the things that stood out throughout the evening was the work of Andreotti's Catering. Guests are always quick to notice a delicious meal, but rarely the countless moving pieces required to serve it seamlessly to a room full of people—yet both were executed beautifully throughout the day. The staff kept everything running smoothly from cocktail hour through the reception, allowing Jacqueline and Joe to focus on celebrating with their family and friends. Great catering teams often become the invisible backbone of a wedding day, and Andreotti's was no exception.

Sunset Portraits with the Philadelphia Skyline
One of my favorite moments of the day came just before sunset. I'm so glad Jacqueline and Joe were willing to step away from the reception for a few minutes to create some rooftop portraits. With the sun setting over Cooper River and the Philadelphia skyline visible in the distance, we were treated to some truly spectacular conditions.

These portraits ended up being the perfect finishing touch to a wedding day that lacked for nothing.
As the sun disappeared below the horizon, Jacqueline and Joe returned to the party and danced the night away surrounded by the people they love most.
Why Couples Love the Camden County Boathouse
For couples planning a South Jersey wedding, the Camden County Boathouse offers a unique combination of waterfront views, easy access to Philadelphia, ample parking, and beautiful reception spaces.

Whether you're planning a traditional church wedding in Haddonfield, Collingswood, or Cherry Hill, or you're looking for a reception venue that feels like a waterfront retreat without leaving South Jersey, the Camden County Boathouse is worth a serious look.
A Celebration Rooted in Lasting Traditions and A Thoughtful Final Touch.
Camden County Boathouse's elegant ballroom features a permanent dance floor that naturally centers the celebration and creates an ideal environment for DJs and live bands to keep guests dancing throughout the evening. In this case our evening’s entertainment was provided by a friend of the groom, DJ Dan Bertolini over at Events By GM.

As the evening drew to a close, Jacqueline and Joe added one final thoughtful touch: a surprise candle bar where guests could create a personalized favor to take home. It was the kind of detail that felt perfectly aligned with the entire day—warm, personal, and centered on the people they love most. Between honoring a cherished family wedding tradition that has now been carried forward into another generation and spending virtually every spare moment on the dance floor, they struck a beautiful balance between celebrating the past and fully embracing the present.
